More About Darren
Just in case anyone thought the About page wasn’t quite enough information, this page will have all the things you’ve always wanted to know about me. Except my bank details.
So to go into the music I like would take quite a while, so I’m going to consult my iPod for the stuff I regularly listen to.
– AFI, All-American Rejects, All Time Low, Alter Bridge, Angels & Airwaves, Arctic Monkeys, The Ataris, Attack Attack!, Avenged Sevenfold, Avril Lavigne, Biffy Clyro, Black Eyed Peas, Black Veil Brides, Blink 182, Bloodhound Gang, Blue, Blur, Bon Jovi, Bowling For Soup, Box Car Racer, Boys Like Girls, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet For My Valentine, Busted, A Day To Remember, Deaf Havana, Eminem, The Enemy, Enter Shikari, Escape The Fate, Evanescence, Fall Out Boy, Family Force 5, Five Finger Death Punch, Foo Fighters, Frank Turner, The Fratellis, The Fray, The Gaslight Anthem, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Guns n Roses, Hey Monday, HIM, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Jimmy Eat World, Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers, Killswitch Engage, Less Than Jake, Linkin Park, Lostprophets, Lynyrd Skynyrd, McFly, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Motley Crue, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, Nightwish, Nirvana, Oasis, The Offspring, Pink, Panic At The Disco, Papa Roach, Paramore, Pendulum, The Prodigy, Queens Of The Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine, Reel Big Fish, Rise Against, Robbie Williams, Scars On Broadway, Slipknot, SR-71, Stereophonics, The Strokes, Suburban Legends, Sum 41, System Of A Down, Taylor Swift, Third Eye Blind, Three Days Grace, Train, Twin Atlantic, The Used, We Are The In Crowd, Weird Al, Westlife, The White Stripes, The Who, The Wonder Years, Yellowcard, Zebrahead, +44.
Longer list than I thought, bravo anyone who actually gets through that lot.
Films, pretty much anything genre-wise really. Favourite actors are probably Jim Carrey and Ed Norton at the moment. Tarantino is the only director I particularly follow, because a) his films are just about all great and b) his awesome films relation universe.
As I went to my iPod for guidance so I shall inspect my IMDb page for films I rated 8 or higher.
-Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction, Batman Begins, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, The Dark Knight Rises, The Shawshank Redemption, The Lion King, Clerks II, Pokemon 2000, Pokemon: The First Movie, Django Unchained, Avengers Assemble, Fight Club, Taken, Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sin City, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Anchorman, American History X, Toy Story, Zombieland, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Alien, 10 Things I Hate About You, Ocean’s Eleven, Seven Pounds, Blazing Saddles, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Sleepy Hollow, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, The Crow, Clerks, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Primal Fear, Frost/Nixon, Jackass.
I don’t claim to be a film guy, as shown with stuff like Pokemon and Jackass in there, but I am not ashamed of anything on any of these lists. Surely Pokemaster was everyone’s dream job growing up in the 90s?
Despite not being a film guy I do have more on that list than my TV list.
-FRIENDS, Scrubs, Top Gear, Mitchell and Webb Look, QI, Mock the Week, Walking with Dinosaurs, Pokemon, Peep Show, Adventure Time. Does Soccer Saturday count?
Has to be said I no longer watch most of these, but I enjoyed them when I did.
Hobbies, I guess should go here. Let’s see…
-Football, Watching football, Squash, Badminton, Gym, Xbox, TV, DVDs and so on. Just your usual lazy teenager hobbies really.
I’m not big on books, I’ve read the Harry Potter series and the Eragon trilogy thing, the Stormbreaker books and some about a young James Bond I forget the name of. My current reading is basically the auto-biographies from ex-Manchester United players.
That’s about it on the facts about me bit really.
I have a few close friends and a lot of acquaintances picked up over the years. I’m born and bred in Carlisle, cursing me with an unintelligible northern accent that is not at all attractive. Studied Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland, decided I want to be more a novelist than a journalist though.
So that’s me, in 689 words or less. I have articles too, should go read them.
